Promoting Local Food and Farming: Achievements and Challenges
A Forum on Sunday, October 16, from 3 to 5 pm, Little Lake Grange, 291 School St. Willits
Panelists representing numerous organizations, from the Anderson Valley Foodshed to NCO to the Farm Bureau, will make brief presentations on their work and lead a discussion of what needs to be done to build a vibrant local food economy in Mendocino County.
Presented by Little Lake Grange and the Grange School of Adaptive Agriculture
Mendocino County is a primarily agricultural economy, yet over 95% of our food is imported and most of our food dollars go to out-of-county enterprises. The forum will celebrate the work of more than a dozen initiatives and dozens of individuals who have been working to build our local food economy. In the public discussion, we will ask what more needs to be done to build an economy that encourages local food production for local needs.
