Willits Frontier Days – July. Billed as the “Oldest Continuous Rodeo in the State of California.” The event features a parade down main street, rodeos, western dances and some good old fashioned fun.
The fun starts with a delicious hot breakfast catered by The Willits Lions Club from 7 to 10 a.m. Locals, visitors and car nuts alike are welcome; join us for a great breakfast with a front row seat to the parade of cars and motorcycles as they rumble to their show positions.
After a satisfying breakfast take a stroll down memory lane and enjoy the beautiful cars and motorcycles on display. You wanna’ have some fun? Show off your talents and compete against car and motorcycle participants in some games of skill. Speaking of skill, you can also try yours…at the Arm Wrestling Contest this year!
While you’re cruising through the classic cars be sure to get a bite to eat and visit the vendor booths. There you’ll find a wide array interesting and fun gift items, arts & crafts and information.
One of the highlights of the day is the Memorial Day Ceremony. The American Legion Post 174’s color guard will present the colors at Noon at the main stage. The procession stops at Center Stage as we sing our National Anthem to honor those who have served our nation and in remembrance of those who have given the ultimate sacrifice.
Roots of Motive Power Festival – Sept. Features working display of antique steam logging equipment along with Lumberjack Handcar Races and BBQ.
The Annual Willits Hometown Celebration – the last week of June or 1st week of July. This celebration kicks off the Willits Frontier Days festivities. Hometown Celebration is a fun-filled old fashioned Street Faire with a prize wheel, street vendors, and a variety of local musicians, food & artists displaying their wares. The shops & restaurants offer special sales.
The Mendocino County Museum collaborates with many other organizations to bring the very popular Kinetic Carnivale to Willits in August. This event features a fun-filled faire with entertainment, vendors, food, hand car races, and the wonderful Kinetic Carnivale Costume Ball.
